Ahira Jones was born February 21st, 1798, in Warren county, Kentucky. Emigrated with his father to White county in the fall of 1809. In the fall of 1825 came to Canton, Fulton county, and there remained two years. He then moved to Farmington township, and settled on section 1, where he still resides. He was married in Carmi, White county, Illinois, to Miss Dovey Underwood. She was born in Henderson county, Kentucky, in November, 1779. She died in September, 1849. Their family consisted of nine children, five of whom are living. 
    
Mr. Jones married his present wife, Mrs. Galentine, in June, 1850. They have four children, all living. Mr. Jones is beloved and respected by all of his neighbors.
